Introduction
With Smart Manufacturing or Industry 4.0, or Industrial Internet of Things, manufacturers are moving towards a new level of interconnected and intelligent manufacturing system which incorporates the latest advances in manufacturing science, information science, data science and automation tools. The greater digital interconnectedness between various parts of the supply and production chains, as well as the higher reliance on automation in these smart factories, is going to make manufacturing ultra-efficient, ultra-sophisticated, and ultra-productive.
The workshop will begin with an opening plenary lecture on introduction to Smart Manufacturing/Industry 4.0. Following that, resource persons from reputed academia and industry will deliver interactive talks on areas relevant to smart manufacturing such as big data analytics, machine to machine communications, advanced robotics, and Industrial Internet of Thing (IIOT) and more. The final session of this workshop will brainstorm on how to get involved, and contribute to advancing the smart manufacturing.
The objective of this workshop is to highlight the opportunities smart manufacturing brings to manufacturers in terms of improvements in efficiency and sustainability. The lectures and interactive sessions are planned in such a way to provide participant with latest know-how on industry 4.0 and what it takes to implement it for a SME manufacturer.
